About This Experience

A majestic night of dinner and music and community in the heart of the Erg Chebbi Dunes under the Moroccan stars. An true desert experience.

The experience begins with a scenic camel trek through the dunes to our shared classic desert camp.

The standard bivouac Sahara Desert camp is situated in a remote part of the Erg Chebbi dunes outside the village of Merzouga. It is located in the wilderness of the dunes not far from Nomadic families.

The tented camp consists of large bedroom tents and a central community dining tent.

You will be traditionally welcomed with mint tea and almonds.

After settling in, an extraordinary desert night commences with dinner next to a campfire accompanied by the music of traditional Berber drummers.

The bedroom tents offer double or twin accommodations in an exceptionally remote and exquisite location.

There are shared bathroom facilities located a short walk from the main camp with WC and sinks.

Showers can be enjoyed before and after your bivouac journey at a charming guest house.

The community restaurant tent has several tables and offers traditional meals prepared by a local Moroccan chef served by the fireside.

The standard Sahara desert bivouac is an incredible adventure that offers an authentic encounter with the desert nomadic culture of Morocco.

Alecia does a superb job at giving the traveler a unique experience

She has a way of allowing the trip to be thoroughly organized and at the same time be flexible enough to explore unanticipated places and people along the way. It may seem expensive but the days are full and there is no other way to explore so much of what Morocco has to offer. I have had two trip with Alecia and have never been disappointed for a minute.

Morocco de-mystified

By the end of the week we were old friends, exchanging email addresses and inviting him to visit us in the US. During our journey to southern Morocco Tahar took us to have tea in a cave with a nomad family; wash clothes in the river with women from the village; spend a night in the Sahara in the most luxurious tent imaginable; and dance with Gnaouan musicians. Our trip was magical. Had we not contacted Alecia, I know we would have missed so many experiences. She made it a trip we will remember forever, and made Morocco and its people a country we will hold dear to our hearts. It is without the slightest reservation that I highly recommend using Travel Exploration if you’re planning a trip to Morocco.
