YOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1: CASABLANCA – FRESH GRILL AT THE PORT - FES
- Pick up from Casablanca airport.
- Start your visit at the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world that stands beside the sea and boasts stunning views along with breathtaking arches and zellij tiled walls, floors, and fountains.
- Lunch at Casablanca’s port, the Corniche with a wide open view of the Atlantic Ocean. Purchase fresh fish from the Port, then hand it over to the locals to cook up.
- After lunch, take the road to Fes.
- Arrive in Fes. Welcome drink followed by orientation and dinner. Dinner at your riad and spend the night in Fes.
DAY 2: FES – DISCOVER THE WORLD OF MOROCCAN STREET FOOD
- Early rise and breakfast. Begin your day by discovering the world of Moroccan street food in Fes
- Visit three different food souks to sample traditional Moroccan street food including dried meats, milawi, harsha, briwats, spicy sardines, spicy potato cakes, soups, olives, and more.Visit a local furnatchi, where hammam water is heated, and a furan, a communal oven and bakery.Discover the world of Moroccan spices and the secrets of the male-oriented domain of the tea den.Attend a hands-on cooking class right in the heart of a Moroccan family kitchen. Learn the intricacies of Moroccan cuisine and savor your culinary creations.
- Visit Moroccan gardens in the afternoon. Cocktail at Le Jardin des Biehn with views of the Andalusian garden.
- Spend the night at a charming riad in Fes.
DAY 3: FES – HISTORICAL TOUR
- Following breakfast, you will be taken to the souk to shop for your first cooking class.
- During your first class you will see how ouarka (the dough used in b’steeya) is made and time for spice shopping.
- Lunch to follow.
- Depart for a guided tour of Fes el Bali (Old Fes) to learn the history, tour the souks, see the mosques, visit the madrasas, and visit the famous leather tanneries.
- Within the old medina, we will go to the following historic sites:
- Medersa Bou Inania: An Islamic school founded by Abu Inan Faris that is highly decorated. The madrasa is one of the few religious places in Morocco that is accessible to non-Islamic tourists.
- Kairaouine Mosque: Morocco’s second largest mosque.
- Attend a Berber carpet demonstration.
- Shopping in the Medina: We will visit the baboosh souk where they sell beautiful hand made shoes, caftans, pottery, local Fassis crafts, and fabric.
- Return with some time at leisure before dinner.
- Spend the night at a charming riad in Fes.
DAY 4: FES - IFRANE – AZRO – ERFOUD - MERZOUGA
- Breakfast at your riad. Take the road to Morocco’s Sahara Desert.
- En route stop in Ifrane for pastries.
- Camel trek into the Moroccan Sahara Desert.
- Sunset views and overnight in the Moroccan Sahara Desert.
DAY 5: MERZOUGA – RISSANI – AIT OUZZINE - NKOB
- Breakfast in the Sahara Desert. Morning exploration.
- Take the road to the town of Rissani. Visit the local souk and then experience a lesson on making madfouna, the local stuffed pizza from the Sahara region.
- Continue the road via Alnif to Ait Ouzzine.
- Overnight in a kasbah hotel in Nkob.
DAY 6: NKOB – BREAD BAKING OF TRADITIONAL MADFOUNA IN THE MOUNTAINS WITH THE BERBERS – OUARZAZATE.
- Breakfast in Nkob. Visit Ait Ouzzine, a traditional Ait Atta Village nestled in the Jebel Saghro and Atlas Mountains.
- Morning tea and greet the family. Then take the road into the mountains. Participate and learn how to make bourfain, a traditional bread of the Berbers.
- Explore the village. Participate in a Henna Party. Take the road to Ouarzazate.
- Overnight in Ouarzazate at a riad with views of the Atlas Mountains.
DAY 7: OUARZAZATE – AIT BENHADDOU KASBAH – OLD ROAD OF CARAVANS – TELOUET – MARRAKESH.
- Breakfast in Ouarzazate at your riad. Visit the Oasis of Fint, then take the road to visit Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, Kasbah Telouet.
- Continue the road to Marrakesh. En route stop at an argan oil Cooperative. Tasting of argan oil and amlou. Demonstration on how amlou is made.
- Lunch in a local restaurant with cuisine made with argan oil.
- Overnight in Marrakesh at a charming riad in the old medina.
DAY 8: MARRAKESH
- Breakfast at your riad.
- Start the day with a visit to the Majorelle Gardens, then explore Marrakesh’s most important sites – the Bahia Palaces, Ben Youssef Madrasa, and the Saadian Tombs.
- Visit the El Bahia Palace. The El Bahia Palace in Marrakesh is a beautiful building and an excellent example of Eastern Architecture from the 19th century that represents the trends and standards of the wealthy at that time. The palace is surrounded by an eight hectare garden.
- Visit the Saadian Tombs. The Saadian tombs in Marrakesh date from the time of the sultan Ahmad al-Mansur. The tombs were only recently discovered in 1917 and were restored by the Beaux-Arts service. The mausoleum comprises the tombs of about sixty members of the Saadi Dynasty that originated in the Draa Valley.
- Lunch in the medina at Riad Monceau, which specializes in haute Moroccan cuisine.
- Shop the souks of Marrakesh. Explore Souk Semmarine and enjoy the Djemaa El Fna Square
- Before heading back to your riad, go on a food tasting walk of the famous Djemaa El Fna. Exotic eats of snail soup, sheep’s heads, and more. Taste or watch. It’s all a food experience.
- Overnight in Marrakesh at a charming riad in the old medina.
DAY 9: MARRAKESH – COOKING WORKSHOP – FREE DAY – INDULGE IN A MOROCCAN HAMMAM
- Cooking Workshop conducted by a dada (traditional Moroccan cook), or a chef from a Moroccan restaurant. Small groups of maximum 10 participants. Learn to prepare a main dish, appetizer, and/or dessert. Dine on the meal you have prepared.
- Spend the remainder of the evening at leisure, an opportunity to return to the souk or visit the local hammam.
- Overnight in Marrakesh at a charming riad in the old medina.
- Two Moroccan cooked salads, Chicken & Lemon Tagine with Preserved Lemons & Olives. Pastilla with Milk for dessert.
- Participate in a Moroccan tea ceremony
- Dine on the mouth-watering lunch that you have prepared
- Option to add Moroccan wine pairings
- Zaalook- Eggplant salad- (Starter)
- First Course: Tagine beef and prunes
- Second Course: Fish with chermoula (a marinade)
- Dessert: Carrot orange dish
